On June 14, a delegation of the Shanghai Bureau of Justice, led by Ms. Liu Weiping, Director of the Bureau's Political Department, visited the Russian Federal Chamber of Lawyers. The participants of the meeting discussed the state and prospects of joint efforts for the development of Russian-Chinese relations and issues of further cooperation.

During the meeting Gennady Sharov, Vice-President of the RFCL, told the guests about the structure of the bodies of lawyers’ self-government, the current state of the Russian legal profession, peculiarities of the legal profession in Russia, and various aspects of providing legal assistance to Russian citizens. In addition, he reported on the forthcoming reform in the field of providing professional legal assistance and the tasks over which the Russian Federal Chamber of Lawyers is working currently.

In turn, the Chinese colleagues told about the relationship of the lawyer community and the state in China. It was noted that the Chinese government provides comprehensive support to lawyers.

We remind that the RFCL has longstanding and strong relationship with Chinese lawyer organizations, in particular with the Shanghai justice authorities. For instance, Andrey Suchkov, Executive Vice-President of the RFCL, undertook a working visit to Shanghai last year. Currently, the RFCL and partner organizations from Shanghai are developing the aspects of cooperation within The Belt and Road Initiative.
